這首〈Gravity〉是 Coldplay 主唱 Chris Martin 的作品，整首歌的氛圍總是跳脫不了 Chris 的抑鬱憂傷。

其實，早在這首歌正式發行之前，Coldplay 就已經在 2002 年於丹麥的演唱會演唱過〈Gravity〉。隔年，Chris 把這首歌送給了 Embrace，做為該團第四張專輯《Out of Nothing》的先發單曲。


聽過 Chris 的版本（目前我只聽過純鋼琴伴奏演唱的現場版本…），不過整體來說，我還是比較喜歡 Embrace 的版本。即使 Chris 自彈自唱很帥氣，即使鋼琴的聲音好好聽，但 Embrace 專輯錄製加上了其他樂器編曲，整個感覺都不一樣了。傷感少了一點，英式柔情多了一點。遽聞後來 Coldplay 在去年年底重新錄製了〈Gravity〉，收錄在《Talk》B-Sides 單曲裡。很想聽看看，試試能不能找出不一樣的味道。


我覺得，主唱 Danny McNamara 的聲音詮釋得不輸 Chris Martin，感覺都抓到了。有對到我的 tone。

Embrace 於 1998 年岀道時雖然成績不錯，媒體也給予「The New Oasis」的讚譽，但後來礙於當時許多英搖團如日中天，因此漸漸失去光芒。直到《Out of Nothing》一推岀即受好評，加上與同期岀道的 Coldplay 合作這首動聽的〈Gravity〉，重新讓大家注意到了他們的好聲音。〈Gravity〉也是我的耳朵對 Embrace 的第一印象。之後，它便成為我的愛歌之一。喜歡這樣的調性鋪陳，情感流露。


這幾天無意間又聽到這首歌，想起了某個人，某個在心裡揮散不去的執著。

突然，好貼近那矛盾掙扎的心情。也許，這就是為什麼英搖對我來說總能引發共鳴之處吧。

交錯聽著 Coldplay 與 Embrace 的版本入眠，能撫平還是激盪自己，無所謂了。
